What is the point of protecting an endangered species when you do not allow anybody in your country to own and admire them? Allowing farm bred ones should help to preserve the species.

How? They have been banned for over 30 years and are still endangered. Please explain how making a fish available in the US is going to help the wild population?

there was another guy who recently got caught in Elmhurst Queens in NYC. it's been a big month for feds to crack down.

LOL how does your logic even make sense? Allowing people to buy farm bred aros will somehow help preserve natural stock? Whats the point in protecting endangered tigers when I am not allowed to own one and admire it?

Read it again.

He's saying that if farm-bred arowanas were allowed (and they aren't) it would help preserve the species. It would help breed a larger captive population and some zoos might even start programs to strengthen the wild population.

Not to mention that availability leads to awareness.

Larger captive population? I dont think so. It's available in so many other countries, and how many personal breeders do we know of? Like 1? Zoos already have the ability to buy asians in they wanted to. They have no problems getting permits for such fish. Why they don't do it is beyond me.

Hey you still didn't explain how selling them in the US with get them of the endangered list.

So READ IT AGAIN YOURSELF:screwy:

Selling them in the US will do nothing to elevate the wild population this is what is needed to remove them from being endangered. The endangered list has nothing to do with "captive population" :duh:

this guy would have been my hero if he didnt get caught and made it
