nice common bluegill and longear sunfish, they do like cooler water but will live in warmer water. How else do you think they make it through summers in shallow ponds and creeks? My two sunfish Peewee and Piggy are doing fine in 78 degree water and sometimes rises to 80

Oh very cool. I would love to spawn some out.. that mean I need to go fishing.

I am from western WA so all the water around here rarely gets over 70, even in shallow spots...

why cant they go in ur 90?

I'm pretty certain the other fish is not a longear sunfish. What state and county did the fish come from?

I don't think it looks like a Longear either.

sunfish do need a bit cooler water(around 70) or they wont live for very long,i know ive had plenty and have one as of right now actually, they are pretty agressive and love to eat feeders, you'd be surprised how much they like em haha, when I feed mine as soon as I open the lid he waits for me,if you'd like Ill get a pic, also with the sunfish they will only take a few days to get adjusted to the tank, although your tank is pretty small for that many.
i disagree. i have a bluegill in heated water and hes doing great. also have a pumpkin seed whos doing well in the same tank.
BTW nice bluegill! hope they do well!

but they prefer cooler water
thats why the live in lakes and ponds that dont really get up above 75

i was making a native tank and i dropped some crayfish in and they ate them:( they like them alot thats what i would feed.
