caught these suckers today

they are acctually eating krill also noticing it looks like the blue gills are courting ....... but then again could be play im not sure i just know they are acting like my mated pair of gts
 
I'd be worried for that oscar. Blue gills at that size will be a lot tougher than your juvenile oscar. But those blue gills should do fine in a heated tank, I used to have one that lived with my Red Terror and a ton of convicts in a tank that is kept in the high 80's.

Actually it depends quite a bit on where the sunfish come from. where I live the water temps are above 70 at least eight months of the year and in the summer the water temps rise well above 80 to around 90+ in some places. Sunfish from here do well in warm water but need a short cool spell before they will reproduce. I've even had blue spotted sunfish reproduce with out the cool spell. blue gills, shell crackers, red ears, red breast lots of sunnies live in the very warm swamps in the south.
