i thought they were the only two in the tank and in one of the posts you mention a smaller texas, did I miss something?

Should get rid of them. The Cons should be in the 29 gal. IF you get a 55 later, then you can keep 1 GT. Two Texas and 1 GT in a 29 Gal is irresponsible. Keeping them suffering so that they can breed "feeders" for you aunt is a horrible reason. What kinda life is that? If you wanna breed them, you need a much larger tank. Dont be stubborn and selfish and keep those fish in a small tank.

You might think people are being rude to you, but its the truth. People here dont like it when fish are abused. You arent equipped for these fish, you should stick to Cons only.

Throwing fish like this randomly together isnt gonna work. With these cichlid, putting them together like this and saying " Ok, Start breeding! " Isnt gonna work, they arent like Cons. When people buy these cichlid they buy big groups of them as Juvies and let them pair naturally. The only thing that will happen in this scenerio is all fish will kill eachother, if they dont kill eachother 1st they will die from the bad water quality, because a 29 Gal isnt big enough for them.

I am sorry to hear about your family problems, Getting out of the hobby may be good if its causing you extra stress. Atleast when you decide to get back into the hobby you can start off with a clean slate.

Hope all works out i've had problems with the family to

As for the color changeing thing its totally normal JDs change from light to dakr based on mood mine turn dark when pissed or have there faces stuffed and light when stressed or scared

or i may be keeping the 29 up with the male convict and some dithers and the 20 with the female convict with dithers.. if i do move out if i get kicked out then ill just sell every thing and start fresh wen i start back in the hobby.

If you want to discuss your family issues Doug, start a blog.
