Fishing in Wisconsin
Well it happened. I was doing a water change just minutes ago, and stupidly had my cell in my shirt pocket.

I bent down to pick up the tub of waste water, and *bloop* it fell in. Seems to be toast. It's a razr.

I took the battery out and its drying, but I tried turning it on and it just has the loading screen but goes nowhere and eventually turns off...

That's why I have insurance I guess.

take it apart (as much as you safely can) and with the battery out, dip it in alcohol. The alcohol can clean it well, and it evaporates fast.

tisk tisk tisk.. 24-48 hours before you turn it on...
i had a camera go for a swim a few months ago.. i pulled the batter and forgot about it.. a month later my gf stuck the battery in and charged it.. now it works fine... dumb luck i guess...

the company i work for just switched over to verizon because they came out with some "water resistant" phone.. ive yet to get mine wet but the internet has all sorts of blogs about people using it underwater and stuff... its made by casio

Did I hurt it by trying to turn it on?

trying to power it up with water still inside can cause stuff to short out... not always but sometimes..

make sure yer insurance covers water damage.. if not report it lost (stolen requires a police report).. then again you have to make sure they cover lost equiptment...

you can put it in an oven on a real low setting to dry it out, also people I know have stuck it in a jar of rice too, as it absorbs moisture.
