center piece fish for 125 gallon

hard to choose another "centerpiece" fish besides a Severum to fit in with your bunch of fish. My ideas would be; Red texas,Banded Leporinus, flagtail,Keyhole cichlid,Uaru, or maybe even a big geophagus. not too sure.

Would the red texas not be too aggressive? I had a Banded Leporinus for about 2 months and it would shred the angelfish fins. Will look into the flagtail, keyhole, uaru and geophagus more though.

Those look cool, but I have never seen them in any fish stores here.

Are green terrors not too aggressive?

Add more angels and have a center "school" instead of a centerpiece? That's what I'd do. :)

Also, do your skirt/widow tetras nip at the angels and gouramis? Mine are c**ts and nip at everything and anything when they're in the mood. :)

Might add more angelfish. How many do you think I could fit in there?

black skirt tetras have never niped at any of the angelfish fins. They mostly stick to themselves and don't bother anyone.

I think a pair of electric blue acaras would be sweet

I had a blue acara, I really liked them. They can be hard to find here though. Only saw them once. That is a good idea though.

They are quite over-rated on aggression, but the smaller females are much more aggressive than males, IME

I think the electric blue acaras are another good choice. Every other suggestion can shred the angels if they feel like it.

Last thing I would add is a red Texas. Might as well toss a midevil in there.

I don't actually know how many would "fit" as such, it would depend on how many water changes etc you're willing to do and how often you're willing to do them.. On top of that, most of my tanks are understocked, but if it were me (depending on how big the gouramis are/will get) I'd probably add another four angels for a total of 10, assuming the gouramis are/will stay under 5ish inches. :)

How about a large fancy goldfish. Goldfish contrast well with angels in term of color and body shape. Don't consider it crazy, as I saw in Florida fish farms that place angels and goldfish put in the same tub.

A pair of satanoperca species would work. They get to a nice size are very peaceful and non predatory.
I would forget gt's, texas cichlids and also true parrots they all have the potential to cause havoc in your tank.

Festivums would also work. They can be found with angelfish in the wild and they work well together in fish tanks.

Gouramis are all 5 inches and under. So I think I could fit 10 angels in there.

Funny, my gf really wants a goldfish. I thought with them being cold water they wouldn't do well in a tropical tank?

I like those will have to see if I can find on.

I think festivums stay a little smaller than I would like. Could be a good fish to add just for more movement in the tank.

Went around to all the lfs this weekend looking for either severum, flagtail or geophagus. Unfortunately I found nothing except for $35 juvie red severums.
