I am not usually a fan of these 'what fish can I fit in my tank' threads. But I have very little info on the rarer central species. I am more educated on Souths but wanted a change for this tank.

The tank dims are 24" wide, 24" deep and 15" high. A squashed cube! Around 35-38g. The tank is empty so there is no other stock to consider. However, I am not looking for the common smaller CA's, i.e Cons, FM's, Sajica etc etc. I want something different, not the kinda fish you find at your lfs. I know I'm likely asking a lot, But I think the budding CA keepers will give me some suggestions.

The tank will be for life though, I have zero intentions of an upgrade.

Many Thanks in advance :D

Thorichthys ellioti, nics, cutteris?

I had considered these, but still I'm looking for something a little less common, If you understand?
They are certainly a possibility if nothing else arrises. Thankyou :)

Yeah sorry forgot to mention that they're Madagascan. They are pretty tho, hence I suggested it anyways. XD

Erm... lessee now. Green texas only reach about 8 inches in length, but yeah, prolly still not small enough tho. >.o Can always buy 'em younger and sell 'em when they grow older...

I apreciate the thought :)

Still not small enough! I don't really want to be swapping and changing, Rather leave them be where they are, happy.

Aequidens tetramerus?exCichlasoma spilurum? Awesome fish.

I feel as though I'm just picking holes now...
First suggestion in an SA, so unfortunately isn't the direction I want to go. The second is too similar to a con, which I have kept plenty before.
