I'd go with another con as well. Have a breeding pair. I've kept them in a 10 gallon before, successfully, so I don't think you'd have a problem with space. Also, if that doesn't interest you, set it up for rams. I'm currently setting up a 25 that will be for rams, with maybe a school of neon tetras (the ultimate monster fish!!!), a small catfish or two and some pearl gouramis. I know... None of those really belong at monsterfishkeepers.com, but ah well.
Are you serious you kept a pair of convict cichlids in a 10 gallon tank
A breeding pair of convict cichlids require (which means they NEED ) 25-30gallons of water for them to live happily 30gallons or more been the best for them 25gallond of water been the minimum these fish grow to around 6" and are very agressive and territorial they require space ask anyone who keeps or breeds these fish successfully you'd be a fool to keep them in any thing smaller that a 25gallon.
You could keep smaller convicts in smaller tank space and even convict fry that would be fine but 2 adults NO NO NO !!! I'm a moderator in the cichlids forum because of my knowledge of cichlids! i know what i'm talking about, my knowledge comes with experience!!!
