You can do it! It’s tough, but I’m rooting for ya I wanna see more of these guys.
Tried tilapia, silversides, and even pellets. I’ve put some on thick fluorocarbon and tried to mimic something swimming nearby to see if there’s any interest but none. Gonna starve them a bit and see. Seen videos of others taking cut up tilapia and silversides w/o hesitation.
Update? Always wanted one but the ph thing kept me away, as you know I don't like one fish a tank and don't like more than one of a species most of the time. What are the plans as far as final set up? Any tankmates? Would be cool if you could breed them
Still on live food. Did try and eat some chopped up e-worms but spit it out.
I have three chaca in there. No other tank mates added as may become a meal or be picked on.
Currently in a tank with tanins added. The water is soft and slightly acidic. Decor will be added later. This will be the final setup as is.

Quick update. Still on live foods. Decided to turn the tank into a black water holding bin with Serra black water extract. This is after a water change so much diluted and not tanin looking.
