challenging peanut as the pike master!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A true pike master would have pics!! ;) It's good to see new Pike disciples rise up and represent MFK's pikes!!!! :clap :clap :clap

Used to have pictures of my pikes, but I lost all of mine in the move...:(. So right now I have NO pikes. Cruise the forum in here and you can see tons of piktures of my pikes...haha. BTW....the # of pikes you have doesn't make you a the top pike keeper...its what you do with the ones you have.

katycichlid: Yeah the Severums are going in with the pbass, pike, cats, etc.

Peanut: I went with the Atabapo because several other people have the tapajos reds and I wanted something a little different. The price difference was 25 bucks so no biggie. I will either be buying another Atabapo male or a tapajos red for that tank sometime in the next couple months. The cat looked really big in that picture but actually its only 1.5-2" bigger then the pike. I'm keeping a close eye on the cat and its either going in a pond or going to a friend in the next couple months. I realize the torpedo-ness of the pike but at the current size I'm pretty sure the cat couldn't handle it and my TSN is well fed, in fact last night he ate about 5 baby texas cichlid feeders :) I've been keeping shovelnose cats for a couple years now. Thanks for the warning though, I to am interested in seeing what colors will come out of the Atabapo in the future. Since I'm relatively new to pikes what type of growth rate could I expect to see in her?

Lastly heres a little better pic, you'll have to excuse the dirtyness of the tank I still haven't had time to get in there and finish changing the substrate and or cleaning all the glass. Enjoy ~Trent

Yeah its from Rapps, just picked it up a few days ago, this was a pic like 5min after I put it in the tank, I'm going to take some more pics later today since I'll have some spare time but the red in the body is more pronounced now and the fish is doing fine in its new home. It schools with my peacock bass like 75% of the time. The pike is about 6.5".

Is your tapajos from him? I was deliberating between the atabapo and the tapajos and decided on the atabapo for now, I wanted 2 but the fish budget for this month wouldn't allow it so next month I might pick up another atabapo or a tapajos.

My tapajos isnt from Rapps

Peanut you lost all of your pikes! That sucks !! :swear: :( I'm sorry to hear that, I have seen pics of your pikes, very cool, is the turtle O.K. ? I believe he meant his pictures

No, he didn't lose the pics - - - his fish didn't survive the move......... What a bummer!!
P. is getting more, you can bet on it!

:iagree:

haha...correcto. Might take me a while cuz I've got to get more tanks and stuff, but I'm workin on it. Right now Mr. MTN PIKE has got most of us pike fanatics beat when it comes to quantity of pikes...lol...too many. I'll get back in the groove....I've already got some fish I am pickin up this next week that are rockin...:D.

Big E...thankz for the kind words man, means a lot. Yeah Herbert is doing great, actually used him to 'cycle' some of my tanks...haha. Workin out pretty good so far. Cycled them with danios for the first two weeks, then in went Herbert when the ammonia spikes were gone. Tanks are doing great! :D
