I think it COULD work. Problem I see with it is the growth rates of the Festae and Chancho's are probably different? I've never kept either one, but I hear the Chancho's are very slow growers. So, the Festae get big quicker, they're like 10 inches and the Chancho's are only 6 inches, they could be at a disadvantage. Festae spawn, now the Chancho's are in real trouble.
But, eventually, I think the Chancho's would be the MUCH meaner fish. I've read posts here about Chancho's have serious aggression issues? Not sure what size tanks that was, but "reagan" ultimately ended up putting his in a pond because they were just psycho.
But, for the size tank you're talking about, just stick a nice divider in the middle of it if things get too sketchy. A pair on one side, another pair on the other side, that'd be fine in a 300 gallon tank.
