Chancho?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just got a pair yesterday myself. Wish I had gotten a couple more just in case as they are bold as hell acting. I've got them in with some larger frontosas, and they already bullying the fronts around first day in tank. Have a cool lime color to their face, and a pearlescent sheen on the rest of their body. These will be some sweet fish to grow out!

I got them from Rapps. Bad thing is when I went in to check on them this morning I found them in a lip lock and looked like they had been at it for a while... For now I put them in separate tanks. Does anybody have any advice besides a divider? Just wondering if they would work things out without killing each other? I only have 2, and can't really afford to be losing one if I can help it. Any advice would be appreciated if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks.

This was my male (pair) that I got from Ruck Fules..... I no longer own them but will get another pair once a tank becomes available. Male was 14"+.

Have a look at this chancho.
See the upper lip, and the way it is nosebone is curved over the upper lip.
I think this is typical for the chancho, but I can be mistaken. Maybe the fish that House has are amarillo's....

Anyone?

I agree, the mouth on my pair is like the mouth on tom@geckolounge's. I was wondering the same thing if House old fish may have been Amarillos ??, but the mouth on these chanchos is definately different than other midas.

Well, I added a bunch of hiding spots to the tank, tried to re-introduce the other chancho to the tank, and in about 20 minutes after they all got to check out the tank good with all the new furniture in there, they were back to lip-lock fighting. Had to separate again. sigh...
