I have been thinking about the 450L I was looking at and though If I was going to spend $1140 on a 5ft 450L tank then I might aswell go for a better tank. As it is in my bedroom it's size what is most important not too much looks. So I decided to get a large base 7-8ft tank so I can get more fish and larger ones. Will this be large enough for red-tailed cats and arowana's? Would a 7ft or 8ft large based tank be over 300G? I am not sure how high it would be but I would like other large fish not just rays so it would have to be pretty high. Any advice appreciated :D.

Thanks,

Kieran

Awesome looking tank but I have no clue what £450.00 is in US funds. Since dimensions are 96x24x18 I dont think RTC or Arowana will fit in there when bigger. I would look for a 36"+ wide tank if you wanna keep those monsters.

a little more than $700, It is about 180g.

that is one sweet looking tank. Honestly, i think a full home aquarium grown arrownana can fit nicely in a 24 wide tank but not a red tailed catfish, since those not only get big but strong and is likely to break glass tanks.

The tank i showed you needs £40 on for delivery but I will still have alot left to buy fish with. I was never planning to keep a red tailed for ever. I was going to sell it once it got too big. I did want a 1000L but this one seems good enough for now. Would you reccomend when I do get it buying a sump or 2 big externals?

Okey I am going to send a email to the guy asking the price of a tank with me making the dimentions but it has got to be 8ft max as it will be going on a 12ft wall so want some space at either side. I want to keep rays so will 36" be okey for the width?

I have emailed for the price of the same tank just 36" wide and I am still waiting for a reply. Do you think it needs to be higher or should it be okey?

Thanks,

Kieran

It will be fine for an Arowana.. but not a RTC..

Red tails will easily hit 3-4 feet and in time should hit 5.

24 inches is not wide enough for an arowana. Unless of course you have no respect for the fish what so ever and you are just using them to make your guest go "woooow".
