:-Change of Idea-bigger tank.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Did you mean RTC in the 3rd part? Also I want to buy a small RTC then when it gets to 2ft (3ft max) sell it on to someone with a bigger tank. The tank will hopefully be 36" wide not 24". Think my idea is okey to get one for ahyle then when it grows too big sell it? I want a RTC as I find them facinating and really like their colours. I also like how they are quite intelligent.

There really isnt anyone out there that can house an RTC that doesnt already..

Have you thought about Leiarius Marmoratas? (Longibarbis)?

Would a ray be okey in a 8ft tank? If I get a Leiarius Marmoratas will I be able to keep the tank as 8ft by 2ft by 1.5ft? I also want 2 oscars a simease tiger fish and a few more.

it will take an RTC to reach 3 feet in 2-4 years depending on the diet.

I thought you were getting the 36inch wide tank?

Also, 8feet long doesnt mean much.. its the width... and yes a few rays can live in that sized tank with a marmoratas and some tigers... with a couple arowana..

Marms are just as smart as red tails...

The standard size is 18" but I am sending a email as they set they custom make tank's asking how much they will charge for a 36" wide one. They havent yet and its been 24hrs but they might just be busy. Will the tank take 4 people to carry do you think?

yes 4 people should do it.

glass cages sells a 48 inch by 48 inch by 25 tall

The tank should be 285G if the supplier can make me one 8ft L by 2ft high by 3ft wide.
FYI, 8' L x 3' W x 2' H = approximately 359 gallons. I have a Tenecor acrylic tank that size. They list it as a "320" to account for the space taken up by their "Simplicity Plus" built in filtration. Mine does not have that option because I was unwilling to lose the six or so inches of width required for built-in filtration.
