thanks so much for sharing your experiences and tips.
I'm going to pick up a 10 litre snail tank this weekend and hope to toss some pond snails and ramshorns in there. They might have to live in the cupboard under the tank though (it'll be warm enough) otherwise might have to set them up in conservatory as cooler but light.
I am going to go with advice of feeding tongs and hopefully introduce a variety of foods early on. I've heard of garlic thing before but never seen great results on previous puffs. Its always worth a try though!

Ah still patiently waiting 
Probably get puff in New year which should allow tank to settle nicely. Snail tank so far not gone to plan (had to order snails and turned up frozen and dead). Reordered with more reliable source and hopefully I can get this breeding program going soon.
While I wait the wait...I am eyeing up some fancy guppies to add...hmmmm not sure if too much

So called the place today, puffers are doing well and they will be arriving to me on Friday! Already eating dead shrimp and prawn which sounds good.
Going to stock prawn, clams, live snails, frozen bloodworm and live bloodworm. Get some garlic juice to does and have my feeding tongs ready.
So anxious to meet them now, fingers crossed for safe transit. Been having small issues with the tank but hopefully I can control it now.
