Changed filter?

i got the levels back from the LFS he said my amonia was not bad, he did say my nitrate was pretty bad and what is a pbass PH supposed to be at or what would they do best at?
 
ph can be as low at 5.5 but i would go no higher then 6.8
 
well here are my current water levels:
ph-6
nitrate-50ml
amonia-0.3

out of those he said the most important is the nitrate and told me to do a 25% water change and use 4 capfuls of prime? does this sound about right?
 
didnt you just do a water change? i never used prime.. what do the directions on the back say to do? your nitrates are bad ... i think the prime will take care of that though. im not sure about another water change on top of no biological in the filters..
 
so just add the prime then? i dont know if he knew i just did a water change? how far off are the nitrates? and i should hold off on feeding them for a few days correct?

i would hold off feeding for a few days to minimize waist build up. as for the water change im not sure, you just did a water change and i never used prime so i dont know how much nitrates it will get rid of... danh would know.. i hate to tell you to hold off and wait for danh because the longer you wait the worst off you might be.. how bad do your fish look? are they gasping for o2 ect? add an airstone for now if you have one... i know nitrates take the o2 out of the water and pinch fins
