I have just bought one of these new snakeheads... not knowing much about them except that they are a dwarf species and all the rest of my fish are much larger so im not worried about him eating them.

I have heard very little about these snakeheads... and kinda bought him as i thought it would be a once in a lifetime chance (and it was only £30!!)I want to know if anyone has any advice for me on this unusual fella.

My current setup is the following:
5ftX2ftX2ft tank
Fluval FX5
Heating is at 26c (though I have just lowered this so it should settle at around 24-25c)

Heres a pic of the tank:

1X Large Fire-eel
2X Pimelodius Pictus cats (fully grown)
2X Keyhole Cichlids (fully grown)
1X Leopard/Hybrid synodontis cat
1X Royal Plec
1X Common Plec
1X Polypterus Delhezi
(And the new 6" Channa)

Heres a pic of the new guy:

Posted up some more pics of the guy...(large load warning)***

And a youtube clip: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=xo9fTmd5vvk

He is attracting a lot of attention from the oscars unfortunately, and is getting chased a bit.
I think its due to his dorsal fin being up constantly and the oscars seeing it as a sign of aggresion. The oscars wont hurt him though, but they are following him around a bit much which is making him jumpy!

GREAT pick up,but they do best in species tanks but everyone does their own thing.once your ornate gets established he should fit it well, you need lots more top water plants and hiding spots for him to retreat to.GL tank looks good

Ive only had him for a few hours and hes very skittish... and getting eyed up by all the other fish... I really hope he pulls through... He was feeding well at the LFS on pellets and shrimp... and he looks in very good condition too... i hope he eats tomorrow as he's had a very big day today

nice pick up man! he has awesome colour, hope he sttles down and takes food soon. Hes a great addition to your tank.

nice pick up and tank set up bro. but becareful oscars r very ferocious..and judging from the pic..it seems that they will be attacking it soon

Seriously, thats a bad combo...very bad...oscars that size and ornatipinnis that size...the picture shows clearly how bad it is...and u saw him chasing the poor lil guy...he cannot adapt in that environment...the oscar will constantly chase him and beat the crap out of him,if u respect ur pet...give him his own space...cheers.

The Oscar appears to easily be able eat the snakehead..? if he is already chasing it thats not a good sign.

Ornates are a sub tropical sp. and would do best @ around 20C, now whilst that is idle, they can do fine a higher temps, but u really need to separate the oscars n sh until the sh puts on a bit of size! or else that gorgoud=s lil fellow cud easy end up lunch!
