nah not temp.... that wont make em roll...

thats the only thing that I can think of... everything else is perfect.. so im quite baffled... another theory is that it couldve been crushed by some of the wood... though it was free floating when I found it... some of the wood had fallen a bit. Im at a loss really... becuase I dont lose fish like this..
I have lost fish (due to being eaten by my other monsters...) but not have fish just die for no reason

24deg would not cause it , they are more than capable of the 24 deg , my money would be on stress , getting chased by the ocsars so soon after going into a new set-up or he may well of been chased jumped and knock himself out on the lid , i have seen this happen a few times , one of my gachua chased another yesterday when he jumped out of the water he smashed one of the t5 tubes on my juwel tank . £30 for a new bulb the swine , if i had a glass cover on that tank he could of easly knocked himself out on the glass and drowned

cheers col

He was getting a lot of attention on his first day in the tank, but after that he was fine. As I said was feeding well and looked vibrant and healthy. Wasn't even shy... I suspect that he was crushed under the bogwood in the tank as on that day it had all collapsed.
It's quite a shame as I can count the number of dead fish on one hand and I've been in this hobby since I was 8 (21 years!!!)

hi
ive been following this post from the start, you mention its hard to get info on this new channa,i beg to differ,on this forum alone the keeping conditions were available as soon as this channa was brought into the hobby.i myself own quite a few channa ornatipinnis 12 in total, now most of them were in bad condition when i first bought them, but keeping them in the right conditions in there own tank they all pulled round very quickly.
i think its a mix of wrong conditions and the oscars man.
plus theres alot of guys on this forum that know what they are talking about, dont take it like they are know it alls, but use it to your advantage.ask for info.

hey thor....
I dont take it like they are know it alls at all :)
Basically I wanted a dwarf channa... i never had one before and have seen a lot in community setups with far more than oscars.... so I went to my lfs and saw this channa and decided to buy it.

It fed well and everything was great and a week later it died... unlucky ;)
couldve happened with a goldfish really as I have checked everything out and after my 21 years experience keeping tropical fresh I couldnt find anything wrong....

What can I say.... anyways I will try another dwarf channa, but a tropical this time as I have no experience keeping them and like their personality and look

hi mate , i would highly suggest if you are set on a snakehead ,considering your tank size and other fish going with at least a medium snakehead something like pleuro or obscura ,as they would stand far more chance of being happy and would be too big to be see as food from the oscars. imo any dwarf snakehead would be stressed in that tank , as to look there best and feel secure ,eat properly ect ,dwarfs esp need a well structured tank.
your tank look fairly large so personally if totally set on it then i would choose pleuro.

cheers col
