Hi,
I've bought (but not yet taken home), a juvenile channa pulchra. I am going to be keeping it on its own in a tank. He is currently around 2-3 inches. His first tank will be about 70 litres, however this will be upgraded within the next year, probably to the 4 foot tank that is currently holding my community fish. Anyway, I was just wondering, I keep getting conflicting info on the best water parameters and tank setup. Has anyone kept these before? And please can I have advice on food - I was thinking frozen bloodworm/tubifex/mussles as well as whitebait and prawns. Any help will be appreciated please, I have about a week til he comes home (I need to move my goldfish and sunfish out of his home first as otherwise they might make a tasty welcome home snack) Any help would be appreciated,
thank you
Hannah

They are great fish :D they eat anything meaty, I feed mine fresh prawns, live locusts and crickets, small frozen fish and I feed cichlid gold medium pellet as a staple, water perimeters are the same as most fish except they are sub tropical so need the temp around 20-25c and you probably already know but they can't be kept with anything else, the lfs I got mine from lied and said I could keep it with bigger fish and it kicked the absolute s*** out of an Oscar that was in my QT tank as soon as i let him out of the bag and was told on this forum they are species only.

Thanks :) mine it seems have better ethics and told me not to keep with anything - it will eat anything that moves they said.... Thanks for the advice, I will stock up on some tasty meaty treats for him when he comes home :) Sooooooo excited!!!!!!!!!

Nope :( nitrites are too high in my other tank still, so he still has a "welcome home snack" swimming around his tank.... I want him by the end of the week though, running out of excuses to go to the fish shop now!ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1361362293.531507.jpg

Currently my fantail goldfish.... So nice and slow swimming snack.... My other half is scared of my goldfish, dread to think what he'll think of my snakehead... Or my future plans for a silver arowana or red tailed cat....
