Channa Sp White Pearl Lemon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I do not mind at all, by all means!

I, personnally, am of a mind to let Glaser know what they should know and explain to potential clients, from the onset. ( they cannot misguide clients stating that this is an unknown species, possibly Argus related, that expectably will grow to 30 centimetres, "possibly 90"?! )

They are selling Argus. Disguising it as some rare recently discovered jewel , when we - SIMPLE LOVING HOBBYISTS - have the evidence ( which they should have; rectius: which they have ) that there are tons of those fish being mass produced in chinese concrete tanks for the food market.

This does not detract from the fish per se, which i find beautyfull and schockfull of personality. But a spade is a spade, no matter what.

As a matter of fact, this is what MFK is all about. In two days, DC had the whole myth demolished.

No fish base compares, truly.

as a matter of factt, I just wrote Glaser an e-mail.

Pointed them here.

30cm possibly 90 haha. That's some estimation!

That is true though, you must write to glaser. It is only right they put a description.

Have to thank DC, this fish was a hot buy locally, many would not expect the full grown size... Although their interested has died down somewhat, it is only right.

Thank you guys again for debunking the mysterious platinum species. I tried to prove it was an argus by counting the dorsal and all but without knowing its true origin previously, it was difficult. Honestly impressed, i tried googling everything i thought would bring up info on these but nothing at all!

just got two white pearl today about 5 inch long. Glad I found this thread... nobody seems to know anything about them. I will put up pics once they are a little more comfortable with there new home.

Great! Join the discussion and wellcome to the House of Monster!:)

Glad i could finally crack this one ! Although now that i know what they are i'm even more excited to get some! Just gotta wait for the price to follow.

Auranti, yes spread the word ! and Miguel i'm glad it went to glasers, did they reply ?

Nope. Not one word.

Anyway, it eats fish ( smelt and silversides ) only and the growth rate is not out of this world.

Since I moved into a bigger tank , circa 3 weeks ago, it went skittish on me. Spends the day hidden in the foliage thickets.
Has to be observed from afar, on her occasional swims.

Ya that's typical of channa, mine always hide for a good month after a tank change. Even plant trimmings or if things get bumped around in a water change is enough to send some of mine into hiding for couple weeks. In my experience they are really very territorial, and not just in a sense that they dont want others in there space but they seem to really map put and recognize the territory they have claimed and hate if it gets messes with.

I would think that Glasers would have replied in some way, that's too bad, Hopefully they will at least look into it and update the information when selling them in the future. I personally am quite happy that they are argus, can't wait to get a few myself !

Exactly the same with me, Dc. Being Argus made the whole thing even more worthwhile :)
