Cool. I had two Dorado's that I lost to a yank break, They were about 12" and I wouldn't for a second put them with an ATF unless there was a lot of space. They would tear it apart.
My six incher that I got from Rapps is starting to take over the tank and the boss is a at least two foot long Emperor cichlid.Hey Carfi,where did you get the Brevis?

this is what i meant by yellow fins. but again might just be camera settings/lighting, water conditions. i bought some VATF once thinking they had yellow fins. Poor conditions and possibly lighting had to do with it. when the fish were first put my tank, the red coloring in the fins were much more apparent than at the LFS. At the LFS the body was pale and fins yellow. After a few weeks, Rose color came back out in the skin and the fins reddened even more.

yank

break = power outage?

I'll take some more photos and post up. with the dorados, really makes a difference the more there are, they tend to play amongst themselves. but point taken, might just keep them with gar when the time comes.

The differences are pretty apparent:

see what you mean about the beak. only thing brevis bout my fish is it's seemingly longer body proportions vis a vis other vitattus I've kept. anyways will take more photos later and post. let you experts decide :)

also of note, the link to photo of "yellow fin atf" above, he tails aren't as long (front to back) and form a single concave from the center of the tail, where as with most other atf, the tails form 2 convex from the tail center line and are much longer.

Here's some photos:

WOW great pics!! I'll try to give a fair shake at them all and maybe we can agree or disagree and talk about why!!

I'M NO EXPERT!!! just trying to educate with as much as I do know and trying to get educated.

For 1 I think what you are referring to as "SP" is a VATF/FATF but the differences are what water they were caught in, some people will go ahead and call this FATF and say it's longer and the teeth are different and so forth, and that it's got a VATF head and A Goliath style Tail and I even heard some CRAP about vittatusXgoliath where it's a hybrid sub species of the two combined which is just poopie kaka nonsense. There are 4 types, bottom line, and the differences between the same that are distinguishable are just that they have been caught in different water.

I got the Brevis from Don @ absolutely, on a very special request, it took him almost a year, but walah.

Mad you have 8 pics on your last post, here goes:
