Like R1 was saying use small amounts of moss to attach to your wood. This lets more light get to the moss at the attachment point. Then to keep it attached long term, keep it trimmed. If it gets too bushy, it will block too much light where it attaches to the wood and come off.

should of know you had something to do with all the fun killing... lol i didnt even know you creeped out of the african forum ever... anyways i went to a lfs in the manhattan today to pick up some black worms after work and i saw some really nice low light plants. i saw a few different kinds of anubias? i'm going to go back and grab a few.. i need to trim my java moss if any wants a little... pm me i'll mail it to you the same way i got it.
