  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There is a new thread button at the top of the forum on the left side..and also post that in the SA/CA forum

Yeah, a 55 is too small for ONE full grown Oscar as they can get over 12 in. which is the standard width of a 55 gallon but many people keep single Oscars in them.

Dude don't jack his thread. Go start your own and someone will answer your questions.

blatant thread jack too!! lmao! he didn't beat around the bush or nothing!

:Dso here is some things you can look for:
The male has a longer and more pointed dorsal fin
The female usually is kinda blah in colors compared to flashy male

this thread has been officially JACKED! :headbang2
(op probably gets the point of what he needs to do with his fish and setup by now....)

In wild caught specimens yes but I have seen TONS of breeder produce females that have pointed dorsal fins. Another thing is the gill spotting. Females have spots all the way to there "chin" and the spots stop just below the eye on males.

i'm anti oscar... i won't get into it too much but they are the rodents of the cichlid world... anyways, minimum 55 gallon for oscar?? 75 gallon with decor...this comes up alot on this site i notice... do you guys like to keep your fish in bare tanks??? you should have a cave, some drift wood, and at least fake plants... cichlids love that stuff....
now even though i don't like oscars it doesn't mean i don't think they shouldn't have a nice, clean home...

Oscars will move/ destory plants live or fake. They will dig much more than any other cichlid.

I have driftwood and more in my tank and I have 2 large Oscars. I've always had some sort of decor in my tanks.
