OK, looks like nobody's gonna get it. It's the US's only native characin, Astyanax maxicanus found in the Rio Grande and several southwest Texas drainages (Nueces, Sabinal, Frio, Devils and San Antonio Rivers. While much smaller than their Paranha cousins, they are just as voracious and as you can see, they have the same dentition. I've lost many a fish to them in my aquariums.

looking at the size, based on your thumb nail for refference, looks to be the size of a large female guppy?
Actually for a Tetra, they get pretty big. The largest I've caught was around 7 inches. This is what they look like in the Aquairum:

again nice image, but nothing to gauge the size against...How large is this specimen?...My, my how they can cover up those chompers!:eek:

I think this one was around 6.5 inches..

its a native American characin and its got some decent chompers.:drool::drool::drool:
