i let it cure for about 3-4 days i think. i ended taking the tank back out of the garbage after my fiance calmed down a bit so it is sitting in my basement and i figure i will try again when i move at the end of the year. i think where i made my mistake was i dident clean the glass good enough after scraping all of the old silicon off. oh yeah i think it was all glass aquarium brand but not sure threw the tube away.

You should probably let the silicone cure longer than that.
I bought a custom glass tank from a manufacturer once. He had a date written on it. He recommended letting the silicone cure for a full month before filling with water. Maybe that's overkill, but that's what the pro recommended.

That reminds me of a similar incident I had 4 years ago. The return for my fluval was knocked out of my 100 gallon tank while I was gone. When I came back home, almost all of the 100 gallons had spilled onto my bedroom floor. Apparently, my neighbor downstairs had called 911, and with the help of a locksmith, the fire-department came into my condo and turned off all the power in the house.

It wasn't until the next couple of days, I truly realized the extent of the water damage. As I lived on the third floor, I had to pay for dry-wall and ceiling fixes, new carpet, paint, and hotel fees for both units below me. That came out to over 10k out of my pocket, as insurance didn't cover the damages. That didn't even include the drying service, emergency locksmith, and the hell I got from my neighbors.

Yeah, make sure to disinfect/sanitize and propery dry EVERYTHING. I had mold problems for 6 months after the disaster and had to eventually change all the carpet.
