A few more IL stores-

Old Town Aquarium

1538 N Wells St
Chicago, IL 60610
(312) 642-8763
"high class" fish store. Chicago prices, but a good store. Lots of odd salt and fresh.

Living Sea Aquarium Inc
811 Devon Ave
Park Ridge, IL
(847) 698-7258
Another "classy" fish store with a big selection and a lot of cool displays(SW ray pond, SW shark/tarpon pond, SW puffer pond, 1000+ gal SW tank) If you can't tell they have lots of salt stuff. Still good fresh stuff though.

Now for stores already mentioned- I'll give a breaf opinion

Aquarium adventure is like a petsmart run by actual hobbyiest(and completly full of tanks and fish). I was very impressed with that store. One of the few places in the regoin you can walk in and buy a 300 gal(they have some in stock already!) They get a nice selection of fish too.

Odd lots is a nice store. Last time I was there they had more aros than I have ever seen(in my whole life combined). Black, silver, and jars. They also had little dats in there.

Scotts is one of my favorites. I can get there in about a half hour as where most of the others are an hour drive. Rays, aros, cichlids, cats, plecos, and a bunch of nice plants(they are my anubius dealer- hahaha). They carry a lot of eheim parts for all you spendy germans too.

I'm sure there are more I can't think of right now, but this should be good for now.

Try Tropical World in Buffalo Grove. They always have one or two big cichlid that came through customer trade in and is very flexible with price. Last time I was there, they had a nicest looking fully grown male yellow midas.

Is King Coral still open? I bought a bunch of cichlids there the last time I was in Chicago and they were really cheap on their prices.

Yeah, King Coral is still open, they have an awesome selection of Africans!!! I just moved down the street from Aquarium Adventure in Hoffman Estates and I must say that I was impressed not only by the amazing display tanks and how nice the store looks but the employees are nice and most of them know their cichlids. One of them told me they had to take like a 5 page test to get the job. Scotts is awesome and still my favorite, thats where I got my first cichlids when I was a little guy.

Great place. Will be picking up a 220 from then within the next couple of weeks.

Is King Coral in Prospect Heights??

The Old FishRac??

I Remember the Fish Rac on Camp MacDonald and 83. He had some great Africans, back when I* was in the Afro phase. I am going to give him a try, If it is owned by the same guy, he was very friendly and knew his Cichlids..

Keep the list going......

Hey Shepp, you got some places in the Janesville/Rockford area??
