King Coral on Montrose closed in Aug.
Used to be my source for oddballs. Had good prices too.

I thought they were just moving? I remember talking to some kids who worked in there. They said they were moving to a smaller store down the street. hmmmmm.,

I work at one of the last independent places in the Fort Wayne Indiana area and we keep alot of oddballs and monster types.
Gars, pikes, polys,Vampires, Barracuda types, Snooks, eels, Dats, cats, fancy plecs, big S. and Central Americans cichlids like Umbis, Kraussi, Argenteus, Bifasciatus, true Festae cichlids and more and a lot of Africans too. Lots of not so monster fancys too.

That's where I used to get all of my fish when I lived in Ft. Wayne. I haven't been back there in a long time.

I was real close to driving out there to get some red shoulder sevs a while ago(thanks for the heads up, once again). I will have to check it out one of these days. I will let you know if I plan on coming out... so you can give me an employee discount. Hahaha J/K.

In Mundelein the Sho Tank is an awesome store. He caters to reefers and sw but has a good african selection. Have seen may large trades, baby RTCs, arrows. Can get what ever you want in a week or so. I get all my stuff thier including food and general supplies. He may be a couple of bucks more, but we've got to keep the local smaller fish stores in business. They are the type of guys that will make deals w/ you, order the odd balls, and pretty much know their sh*t.
On Rt. 45, across from Subway

The Living Sea is cool, a bit of a drive but go on a weelend and see a shark feeding. I think it's at 2:00.

Animal Island (I think thats the name) stopped one day as I drove by. It's on Cicero Ave., past Alsip. The place was a little shady, but a huge selection of some crazy stuff.

Theirs a dude in Fox Lake, on Rollins road just before Grand Ave. It's called Something Fishy, again can be a little weird, but nice staff and fair selection.

On 83 in Arligton Heights? maybe Wheeling. I thick it was the Fish Rac. Huge, almost entirely, cichlids. Africans, plants, and some bad boys. Baby dovi's 3-4" about 7 bucks. Definately go there, close and will definately find something you want.

I do sales so I am always driving around. When ever I see a shop I stop. Regardless. Unless it's petsmart, pets supplies + etc. My new territory is Milwaukee south to Cook County. When I find some gnarly places in Wis. I will post. I posted a thread in the African Forum but have not had any responces.

I find their tank prices lower than most other lfs. They will also deliver and setup for $50 too.

Was very cool, it is now replaced by a place called King Coral, Have yet to wander in.

I Will Update the list and post the whole thing so far....

:D

Goto www.gcca.net. their is a list of Wis. shops that they are going to tour. I'm not going on the tour but I wrote down the names of the six shops they will visit. Also, stopped at Aquarium Adventure today in Schaumburg. A lot of stuff. A Butti. that was about 6" for 24 bucks. Smaller ones also. Dats, Shovelnose Limas, and other little monsters. Cool place and nice display tanks.
