choclate cichlids

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had one years ago with my aggressive cichlids and he lasted all of 2 months MAX. They just seem 2 passive to me

CiChLiD cRaZy!!!

I had a big male and he would stress out even when small young centrals were put in with him to grow out a little. He was most happy with geophagus and smaller centrals like sajica and ellioti.

Most SA don't do well with the vast majority of big centrals from the following genus: amphilophus, parachromis, nandopsis, vieja, or ex-cichlasoma. There are always exceptions. Green and red terrors are typically the exceptions. I agree with the majority of the opinions above... chocolates won't do well with a grammode.

Keep whatever you like more... or get rid of whatever is easier to obtain in your area. Just in case you change your mind in the future.

Your green terror may work with the chocolates. He/she will likely run the tank, but if the chocolates are big enough they should be fine.

I'll have a home for those chocolates by the end of the year, only problem is, I live in the wrong state. Haven't seen chocolates too much lately in the LFS here. I've had a chocolate before, but he lived alone so I can't speak for how the mix would go.

I'll keep the chocolates and get some geos. Found a home for the grammode

i think you made a good choice, the chocolates have great colors eventually, you may need to upgrade the tank size? what tank are they in now? i agree with what was said above,CA and SA for the most part don't end up working out long term

Current stock list, 4 chocolates, 2 satanoperca daemons, 1 heckelli and a green terror. Think this tank is gunna be sweet. 75 gallon for now... Will end up with a 125 or 180 in the end. Do have a 30 gallon sump on my 75 gallon. So more like a 90 cause it's not filled all the way.
