Chocolate cichlid questions

Actually, most of the adult coryphaenoides I've seen are truly chocolate brown in color when not in spawning mode. They may not be the most colorful cichlid, but I do think they're handsome fish.

Actually, it seems that it's the emerald green that is quite rare in Chocolates. I've seen and had several 'temporalis' that were mostly the dark burgundy color but my latest strain has a nice blend of green and deep red, especially when in spawning mode. Non-spawning coloration they are mostly burgundy. Here's a video of a pair guarding young.

Yes coryphaenoids (at least mine) like to stay a dark chocolate color most of the time. During feeding and when he felf like it he would go bright orange with red fins. The best colors ive seen him project was his breeding dress which was the deep black body with his upper half a bright yellow. I love all chocolates but prefer coryphaenoids =)

beautiful Coryph! they may not have the best colours but they are by far an amazing fish. I find chocolates are just as if not a little more owner responsive than an oscar. mind follows me wherever I go. I'm happy to say that his Ich has completely cleared up now, I'll have to take some more pictures at some point.

Thats interesting, so my emerald green shine is not too common?

This is my guy he is about 9 inches and about an inch thick . He is 5 years old and he changes colour all the time from light brown to what you see in the picture.
