So i have a 55g aquarium and i want to get some cichlids in it. I was originally gonna get oscars cause i havent wanted on my whole life. But the more i read it sounded like 55g is gonna be too small for more than one oscar. So im looking at choclate cichlids, how aggresive are they and how many could i put in a 55g? Im also thinking about getting 5 or 6 red bellies instead. What do you think would be better?

Any other suggestions would be great! Im just looking for some time of cichlid or carnivorous fish that are aggresive eaters and i could have multiple fish together in a 55g
Thanks in advance

First check to see if your state allows red bellies to be kept. Then go buy a bigger tank because all of your ideas require a larger tank

There's alot of different types of cichlids you could keep in a 55 gallon. Not just cichlids but other fish as well.

No matter how you go, with what you listed, you can have *one* aggressive fish in a 55 gallon.

A 55g is too small for just one Oscar.
A 55g is too small for just one Chocholate cichlid.
A 55g is too small for RBP's

I would look more into smaller cichlids. Firemouth cichlids, Convict cichlids, T-bar cichlids, Salvinis or anything in that range.

My exodon idea is still the best for numerous aggressive fishes that are entertaining to feed and won't outgrow a 55. ;)
A nice school of exodons would be sweet :headbang2
