Chocolate Cichlids and Plecos

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Gorgeous colony, I love the huge loach. Those plecos are really nice as well. Your chocolates have a nice emerald color that you don't see too often

Most of the plecos are hiding, in the back there is a L114 and L600. I just rearranged all the wood so they are getting used to it. I got another loach even bigger but he is very aggressive so he is in another tank, he goes around clicking, chasing the other loaches and chewing up their fins. Yea the Chocolates are my fav medium sized fish. It's so nice to have some fish that don't kill each other.

Do the chocolates ever harass the cories? The one chocolate I had was medium aggression. Found them more aggressive then sevs and uarus

Sure don't, I'm glad because 10 more will be added tomorrow and they look awesome schooling together. Why I had the True Parrots there was some bumping going on, ever since I traded the Parrots everyone has been acting well.

Great community tank, love the chocolates. What are you feeding them?

I have 4 chocholates now I have been growing out I was only planning on keeping 1 or a pair. Never thaught of them as grouping up kind of species.

Do they do better in a group? Or will a solo specimen be fine?

Most do well in a group, I have that is not so friendly but the rest get along well, they have the occasional bicker but other than that, they work out well.

They eat a mixture of spinach, squash, cucumber, shrimp pellets, market shrimp and their all time favorite are mealworms. They will let everything pass by them but once the mealworms hit the water they go crazy.
