Choice for "wet pet"/ rtm vs gt

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You could always just do one GT in a 75, would be fine for awhile.

I think if you go with a group or harem, stick to the smaller cichlids. If you want a single wet pet you could get away with a gt or rtm for awhile

Firemouths would work for a harem i think.

I don't know why firemouths seem so "meh" to me. They are all bark and no bite which makes them fun to watch interact. They have great colors. Yet, something about them seems boring to me.

I have never kept them, but they are said to be very entertaining with each other and colourful. if i wasn't a knifefish guy id likely try them

Gts aren't really the "wet pet" type of fish, they are aggressive fish wise but I've never seen a glass banging GT TBH. Anything parachromis has the potential to be a glass banger, However they obviously require a bigger tank than a 75 long term for any parachromis. In a 75 gallon tank, if you want a glass banging wet let that would be happy in there for most of their life I'd go Midas. Even a Midas could outgrow a 75 but they aren't as needy for space as parachromis.

Motaguense outgrow a 75?

And yeah I've seen some monster Midas.

Yes a Moto will outgrow a 75. Even if you have a male max out at 12" long, they can easily get 3 inches thick and it's not all about size for parachromis. Thy are hardcore predatory fish, they pack on speed and use a lot of space.

I currently have a RTM in a hundred 50 gallon tank I've had him for 2 years and 3 months from around just under 2 inches to his size now at right about or just under 12 inches...
