cruel/not cruel?
Not cruel and an excellent tool in proper hands. The only time you have problems with them are when people buy them and try to use them without ever educating themselves as to their proper use. Ignorance is to blame for the controversy in using them.

I love pinch collars. They are fantastic. There is nothing cruel about them either, they lie flat and are barely noticed until you give a tug. If you look at the design they are made to pinch multiple points around the dogs neck only when there is tension on the lead which will do what you need it to do and take the dogs attention off of whatever is causing it great excitement and you great trouble in controlling it. They are a redirectional tool and believe you me, when trying to train a high strung and powerful dog you will be glad to have one on hand.

I think you will die just the same from the pressure on a nylon strap example hanging people.

I think the idea of the pinchers is to deter the dog from pulling hard and you should have to use very little force to get its attention..
thats exactly right...it just gets their attention.... it should never hurt them ... just applies pressure and is uncomfortable... but not pain.... it worked like a charm with all my dobermans.. i think i used it about a week .. and if they start slipping back you reinforce one in awhile...

i have 2 labs an alasken huskie and a bull dog. i trained them right form the start never once used a chocker collor. i do find it inhumane. people same i use the collor because (enter something here) its all how you train. even if u get a shelter dog it was somebodies fault why ur using that collor.

this is not at all how it is used... if it is used like this then yes....do not even think of putting it on your dog.. the pinch collar should be up high on the dogs neck...properly fitted.. you practice its use in a safe only environment.. you jerk back and release as soon as the dog starts to pull.... as soon as he stops you take all pressure off... if you practice this at home... you can put the normal collar on and he will walk perfect in no time... it is not a weapon... it is a tool... many people don't like it because the people do not use it properly... but it works... and works well... and to keep your dog safe for its whole life time... it must respect the leash ...and you...
But the dog doesn't always stop just because you jerk the chain. So what do you do when it doesn't stop pulling, just drop the leash and hope the dog doesn't get hit by a car?

This is partially true.. in most cases... it is not nessasary to use any stronger means to training... but then there are some dogs that are naturally just aggressive pullers... more exciteable types.. more aggressive types... all personalities are different.. if you don't need it then thats great...i did not need anything for my collie... he just naturally never pulls..... but the dobies always want to be the first ones there....so by all means don't use it if you don't need it..... but if they do pull.... then you need to step up and correct the situation...

It sounds nice when you say it like that, but in reality, it doesn't always work that way. Some dogs are far too stubborn to stop pulling just because of a slight jerk, so they just keep pulling anyway.

For training i would not have the dog in any danger area.. and if the dog continues to pull with a pinch collar then the pinch collar is not fitted properly or is not the right size ...

the pinch collars scare me. im always afraid that if i yank or something it will hurt the dog. id much prefer the standard chain collar.

SO not cool to use that on your dog man best friend not mans best ***** :]
thats so random to put on a fish website btw :O:ROFL:
