Choosing an arowana

Leis can get up over 3feet. Personally I would never buy one again without plans for a 4foot wide tank at some point. They seem to get cramped easily with those rigid turns. I think a 40" wide tank could be a bare minimum for 2 or 3decades of proper lei growth, but would still recommend even more tank width for a comfortable turning radius someday down the line

Could I see a photo of a lei over 3 foot. I'm not doubting you I just would like to see one.

I don't have one ready for you sorry. I have heard about these kinds of wild lei beasts from their home waters. Mine grew to 26inch in 5years in my 30inch wide tank (no pic of that either, sorry). Can't imagine if I was able to keep him around another 20years! These prehistoric fish live a long long time with proper keep. Had to sell cause he looked stiff turning all of a sudden and he started kicking the crap out of my black aro. Unfortunately he jumped out of the new owners tank not long after

Well I guess it may sound more doable to get jardini rather than a leichardti? Idk? I really do appreciate all the help tho!

If I were you i'd get a leichardti. I haven't had any accounts of leichardti having a lot of aggression. I had a 12" one with black arowanas, tin foil barbs, silver dollars and never seen him attack anyone. Sadly he jumped and died. I got a new one that is currently 6" which Angel Fish and they are not bothered.

Here are some pics of Lei that are 30"~ in the wild. Realistically captive fish do not grow as large as the wild ones. The wider the tank the better.
