Hmmmm! interesting statement that acts of violence only happen in America?
Here are some recent headlines......

Bomb blasts in Algerian capital; 45 dead
Suicide bombing kills 2 in Iraq
Israeli tanks, bulldozers move into Gaza
Somali pirates threaten to kill hostages
Mass graves found in Liberia
Gunmen kill 4 at Sudan hospital run by aid group
Ethiopians say soldiers killing villagers 'like goats'

Maybe besides stricter gun control we could also add bomb , tank and machete control bills...........

I can't believe you just compared the US to this haggle of 3rd world countries.

The point he was trying to make was that it is happening all over the world. It doesn't just happen in the States.
The problem is the world is eslcalating and a rapid degree, there really isn't anything anyone can do on earth to stop this. Chances are the gun man had a beef with the church, why is it that everytime you hear the "church" in the news you automatically think "uh oh, some kid has been molested"? These ones everyone looks to as spiritual leaders have been, as a whole, running their flocks to the slaughter, into wars, helping the government pick up arms against one and other. The Chatholic church backed hitler, it backs Bush, Castro.. just to name a few. Its not suprising to hear of things like this related to the church. More and more people are going to be saying "I don't want anything to do with religion anymore."

That sounds derogatory to the said countries. Am I reading you right or am I overinterpreting? Am just saying noone made the US above comparison to other countries. The US is not the be all and end all of this world. Also, I don't think the Algerians and Israeli would be impressed with being referred to as 1/3 world countries.

Another point altogether now: I find that the acts of violence listed above all have a cause, so in my mind this is what defies comparison, not the countries themselves. There have also been bombings in London, Madrid, etc. They're acts of terrorism, not senseless lunacy. I don't condone them, but they have a worthier cause than the classic shooting combination of wanting to be famous, being mentally ill and happening to have dead easy access to guns.
