Friend got these for me from a friend of his who had someone surrender adult bass that ended up spawning. Believe them to be melaniae but definitely not certain. Hoping to get insight from more experienced members so I know what I am getting into. I have them in a 75, have a 250 waiting on them once they are a bit bigger, and planning a 710g pool pond. Hoping a positive ID will help me know if that’s a big enough pond or if I should start the ground work to convince my wife that I need bigger lol. Tried to get the best pics I could but they do not sit still when I’m near the tank. Thanks in advance for everyone’s always appreciated input and help!

Canada eh
Either way. Still start the ground work with your wife to get the bigger set up. There’s always another reason to go bigger- more bass, rays, aros, maybe gars. Lol

Those xingus are beautiful btw. HOWs about sending some fry from the next batch over to Canada eh?

Valid point. If I could keep rays here I wouldn’t even second guess it, but being here in florida I haven’t figured out the work around to keeping them legally. The only reason I have the bass is because they were captive bred.

Oh yah. Keep forgetting about all that.

Thought I’d add an updated photo every few weeks to show the changes as they grow. Gained roughly an inch each since the last photo. Appetite has gone through the roof. They each will eat the large hilarious carnivore sticks already. Strike them the second they hit the water. I drop one stick at a time and then they eat in order of size which I assume is their hierarchy. Interesting to watch.
