Petenia splendida aka Red Snook

'round here cichlas are called "golden tigers", the Red Snook is called a "mexican tiger"
Are mexican tigers expensive and rare?

i'd say anything with a 4 foot width is minimum for temensis and pinima.

when you said 4" kelbs are you talking about the ones in the last few pics?

very nice collection!
if you ever get bored of them soon you can pass them to me.:D
i hope you do house tours, cause i really wanna see that collection.

540 ... yea possibly. I'll just throw them in the pond. are tems/pinima known jumpers?

mex. tigers are fairly rare over these parts, especially wild ones. But prob has more to do with demand, they run about 35USD for 5" wild caught.

no, I'm 95% the small guys sold to me as kels are infact orinos. The way they spangle, head shape, the bars, cheek markings etc... but must say they're much nicer than the first batch of orinios in same photos. the 4" kels are 2 in number. you can see them in the other photos, the small fellas.

thats what i was thinking...those look totally orino.
ive heard of many species of pbass jumping,so always keep a lid on.
you know how much power they can build.
those mexican tigers are red bay snooks right?
i thought they were pretty common in the US.
we get small ones here for a few dollars.

nice cichla, ^^he is right about it being cramped, expecially those with the 3 inches of space.
