Cichla sp. "Maica Lake"

Nice pbass. I have a question on all the different kinds of pbass hitting the market lately. It seems like people are finding pbass in different lakes or streams and they are coming up with a new name for them. Like all these diff. types of Azuls. Is there really a difference between all these Azuls or is it just a bunch of hype?

I can assure you of one thing, that camera can do A LOT more for photos than I can, LOL. It did not come with a CF card so I have to buy one this weekend. As for these pics, I don't know where and when they were published/posted in the past....too many to remember.

It's not really a bunch of hype. Pbass are highly variable in color and pattern, even within known species. Thus, one lake may have a very different-looking type of the same species as the next lake. That is why true Cichla collectors try to obtain as many different "types" as they can and it's also why they try to find out the exact locality data as well. All of this is very interesting to most, and very useful if you are putting together a nice collection of these fishes.
