Ras's bass dont even go down to disturb anything and he just took it all out too so nothing to disturb anyway...

Still trying to figure out the tile Neo??? Why worry about the gaps if the tiles are siliconed down or overlaped like slate slabs...
i dont like silicone down... what if i hate the look? LOL

I've been toying with the idea some reef keepers have been using in the past few years. It involves putting down a layer of clear acrylic casting resin, then a layer of sand, followed by another layer of resin, encasing the sand in acrylic. The best of both, the look of a sand bottom with the benefits of bare bottom. I am thinking of trying this on my next tank project.

i have sand and lavarock i use themon opposite sides of the tank cand is a African Rift sand that is white and black only problem is i have to clean my filters alittle more b/c sand is always getting into them. Also sand is hard to clean with a gravel vac

:D , most silicone doesnt stick that bad though...

either way still wanna see it ;)

What about sing those 3d bg for the bottom... you could easily stick fake plants into it.

I used aquarium silicon to glue plants down in a tank and it stuck pretty damn well. Was hard to get out.

I think I'm going to use linoleum since Li is going with home flooring materials..

the 3d bg does seem like a cool idea Co...

Instead of spray painting the bottom black, you can get the sand look by spray painting it a sand texture paint. I have seen pictures of one and looks pretty good, just can't remember where I saw it. You get the benefits of bare bottom and the look of sand.
