Cichlas in Ponds

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm SO gonna keep this noted, THANKS!

also worth noting the calculator tab at the top of this site can calculate any rectangular tank (or in this case pond) volume, pretty useful tool. Good luck!

Make the pond as big as you can make it. There is nothing wrong with it. A lot of times outside of space fish live better in captivity then they do in the wild as far as feeding is concerned.

why dont you just get one of those round above ground pools? those things would work great. and they would be cheaper and larger than a pond/tank.
and to clarify, there are no royal(intermedia) pbass in FL ponds, lakes, or canals.

for 2 breeding pairs i would say minimum 500 gallons. especially if they are all around the 12" mark

yea I agree. about 500 and thats easy to do when you start digging. I have a 5000gal pond and if I found a way to heat it during the winter I would try and breed pbass!

I have a 500 gallon indoor pond with pbass in it. Im in Ohio, so keeping bass in an outdoor pond in Fl. wouldnt be a problem IMO. My pond is 84x48x30 and I have a temensis, mono and ocell right now. If that helps..
