NLS thera A+ 2mm is a good choice for a GT along with some veggie based foods. Your fish looks great BTW.

Thanks for the suggestion mate I know I can def get the Thera a because I've had it before when I kept angels, Bolivians and rams, do you reckon a vege flake also would suffice? . Thanks for the comments on the fish too, sorry about the bad photo.

I use veggie pellets I don't low if omega one is available in oz but that is a quality brand. I even use broken up veggie wafers as an alternative works just as well.

Awesome thanks heaps for the help mate, I'll give him a couple of days without food to get his appetite right up and get some Thera a tomorow and see how he reacts to it, will also look for a quality sinking vegetable food as well

Here's my thing with a lot of live food items-- how many commercial/professional aquaculture operations use them? It's not just a matter of expense but also what they call biosecurity, keeping contaminants and pathogens out of their operations. A bigger deal to a large operation than for most of us, maybe, but a concept at least worth being aware of.

So when you read aquaculture feed trials, normally they process whatever it is they're testing in some way to kill any possible pathogens, as opposed to feeding raw live foods. Everyone has their own opinion on it, and not saying I haven't dropped the occasional cricket or asian beetle in my tank, but all in all, with what I've read from professional aquaculture literature, if I want to feed treats, for years now I've done just fine with freeze dried items over live.

but that's just me...

good points on live foods neutrino. there is always that chance of introducing something to your tank. I personally stick to freeze dried treats soaked in Boyds vita-Chem these days.

Just thought I'd update my gt situation. Had to mail order some Thera a and it arrived this afternoon and I hadn't yet fed him so he was charging up and down the front of the tank trying to get my attention to feed him . Dropped in a couple of the new Thera 1 mm pellets and he devoured them straight up so it dropped in more and he went nuts for them. So glad he took it straight away thought it was gonna be harder getting him off the hikari discus bio but apparently not lol. Can't say the same for the ocean nutrition cichlid vege pellets tho he don't wanna bar of them, but I will persist. I can live with him only taking the Thera a though and will just give him a feed of discus bio only on saturday day before his 80% water change just while he's still growing for a protein hit. Thanks heaps for the help and guidance pops and RD, much appreciated.

NLS makes algaemax pellets in 1mm and 2mm, and is a good alternative as a "veggie" pellet if you can't get the GT to eat ocean nutrition.
