They are an African cichlid known as Shell Dwellers

I would get a pair of Rams, however you would have to get rid all your other fish because that would be the max for room and bioload in a 29 gal.

Rainbow cichlids aren't a bad call. They max out at four inches. Could do Africans too though. I assume this is a 30 gallon long, not a 29.
