I have been searching everywhere to find a perfect replacement for my community tank and now im looking at central american cichlids. SO I have been looking at getting a pair of central american cichlids for my tank. I don't want anything super common like convicts that are worth like dirt :grinno:. SO I have been considering firemouths. I was wondering if firemouths would be okay as a pair in a 29? Are there any other central american cichlids I could keep in this size setup? What can I keep with them? I was thinking a fast moving tetra and some corys. Any suggestions?

If your into them, you can try looking at a couple of the dwarf pike cichlid species.

Salvinis would be awesome but I always thaught they grew too big to kep a pair in a 29? I have been looking at Crenicichla compressiceps. Anybody have any experience with them?

the salvinis do get a lil big but mine did jus fine, but thats jus my experience. or hav u thought bout rainbow cichlids?

look into other thorichthys if you like firemouths or even cryptoheros; cutteri get pretty nice.

What about a nice group of keyhole cichlids?? they have great personality and their colors and patterns change a lot throughout their life.
