I know I said I would stay away from anything convict but I actually like these cichlids. Do you ship? What part of MD do you live in?

Sorry I can't make up my mind guys there are alot more options than I thaught :D.

I'm in silver spring and no I don't ship. The advantage is they are free, and they're amazing little cichlids. They look like a cross between a rainbow (formerly "Herotilapia" rmultispinosa now also Archocentrus) and a convict cichlid. When they breed they go through a dramatic color change, and go almost solid black.

They're great parents, and they will stick fry to plants like they're decorating a xmas tree. These are F2 generation of a wild strain from Lago Nicaraugra. They originally came from Jeff Rapps.

These are my actual fish.

yeah the youtube videos are on the bottom of the page I sent. Yeah they're great for a 29. My tank is a 37 which has the same footprint as a 29 just taller, some people recommend a 55 because the wild strain males can get up to 8 inches. Salvini's are too big and territorial for a 29 IMO. You could keep one maybe, and rainbows are archocentrus cichlids now so they're in the convict family too. Really for what you're looking for - small-medium CA cichlids- your lookin at Archocentrus, Thorichthys, and then a few options in the SA area apistos, rams, dwarf acaras, gymnogeophagus. If you want some gymno's dogofwar has some. I got my fliers from him originally, and he has quite a collection. Last time I looked he had nanoluteus, and cutteri too.
