Cichlid pellets for SA/CA ciclids, what have you tried and your opinion?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I use red zebra foods. I have known the guy who owns the company for a long time now and used the food for a few years (since he started having it made). he sells in bulk and the price scales on how much you get. The website is www.redzebraaquatics.com

I mix Hikari Cichlid Gold & Hikari Bio Gold, my fish love them and it brings out there colour alot. Im not to sure about HBH though, i remember they were recalling a few of there products not too long ago due to problems with the content. Just stick to Hikari.

I agree, I use Hikari Cichlid Biogold +, Cichlid Excel mix, (2/1 ratio), for my High end cichlids, and for fatso's like manny's, I would simply use regular Cichlid Gold and Cichlid staple, also 2/1 ratio, to maintain them with nice color and growth. I also give an occasional treat of frozen krill or live mealworms to all who will eat it, that is all you need. Tried all the brands, Hikari for me is the best, since 1982 for my cichlids.

i've only used Hikari and Omega One. Omega One seems to have much better ingredients and less mess.

i use hikari cichlid gold, hikari cichlid bio-gold, Grand Sumo & Grand Sumo Red, Omega One Cichlid, Spectrum Thera +A, ChingMix Formula SP50, Tetra Cichlid sticks, and Purina Game & Vigor Formula. These are just the pellets.

I usually mix in GrandSumo & ChingMix & Omega One & Thera +A, then give the sticks and the vigor stuff once every couple days. Both are purty messy.

Anyone else use the flowerhorn foods like chingmix for pure cichlids? If it is hormone free it may be a decent choice if the price is right and you can get it.

I use all the Hikari cichlid gold, staple, bio gold, mix them together, also have some cichlid sticks, and mix in some cheap wardley pellets occaionally

You make the choice? looks like a lot of grain by products as the 2nd or 3rd main ingredient

I've gotten respectable gains in fish size from my base pellet choice although I do supplement with other brands depending on sales..HBH @2lbs for 16.50:drool::

HBH OSCAR SHOW / SOUTH AMERICAN CICHLID COLOR

MAIN INGREDIENTS: Anchovy Meal, Dried Squid, Blood Meal, Fish Oil, Wheat Flour, Lecithin, Hydrolyzed Feather Meal, Brewers Dried Yeast, Beta Carotenes. With Added Vitamins and Minerals:popcorn:

I've started feeding Omega One and HBH along with Hikari to my GT and loaches. The HBH seems to make a lot of a mess, but they all like it. Omega One has better ingredients. I've never seen NLS, Dainichi, or OSI in stores around here.
