CICHLID PIKES ARE CRAZY PREDATORS!!

I have kept several crenicichla over the years (note the name) and love them dearly.

I'd be happy to share with anyone if interested. The one thing I would caution is watch the overfeeding... not with respect to ammonia cycle, but these hunters will eat way past the point of being full. They can "damage" things if engourged and anatomically they just cannot do that like, say a Peacock Bass or Oscar would be able to.

These fish learn the art of hand feeding very quickly, one of my favorite fish would rear out of the tank to eat... give it a shot.

Take care,

Keep in mind that most pike cichlids have an elastic stomach, which allows them to eat more than most cichlids would because they are predators. Compared to an oscar they are more adapted to eating larger meals. Pbass and Pikes are pretty much in the same boat when it comes to eating because they both have elastic stomachs which allow them to eat large, big meals whenever the chance allows. The KEY thing to remember is that they need a period of fasting to allow them to completely clear their digestive tract. Thats where a lot of people go wrong, feed them every day as much as they can eat with out allowing them to purge. Feed them like you feed the big cats, to the point of satiation and allow them to fast at least one day a week and your good. I normally allow mine two days a week spread out...;) BTW...you spelled your name wrong...its Crenicichla...;) ...but you knew that...haha
