That was one of my other thoughts, but if figured the a red devil or a green terror would eventually catch up to him in size and cause problems. Any tips on sexing convicts? I want to be sure to only get males.
Hi m8. I used to keep my JD with a firemouth (male). You may not believe this but they would never seperate where one was the other was by its side. Problem was i couldnt put any more fish in my tank including my Tiger Oscar. They teamed up and really hurt him so had to get him a new tank just for him. For some reason though they left my Keyhole Cichlids alone not sure why
Yeh, Oscars are nowhere near the monsters some people make them out to be. Sure, they can really tear up feeder fish and crayfish, but for the most part they are pushovers.
that should be relatiely easy to do with convicts and salvinis . . .
if you want the JD to be the boss of your tank, you should forget any ideas like Red Devil, Green Terror or Texas/Carpintis . . . those fish will get as big (and bigger) than your JD, and then you might have problems
not saying you won't have problems with salvini or convict, but at least in those cases your JD has a better chance of coming out on top . . .
