Cichlids compatibility with polys

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Lmao the battles begins.
Hahaha yup... I knew it would come to this eventually! The grown up polys eat tilapia and carnivore / massivore and thankfully the pearsei has shown zero interest in either so far... Crossing my fingers that I somehow didn't get a landfill fish lol

Wow thats cool that he wont eat the carnivore/massivore only thing mine wont eat is choped up fish

Best I could do... So hard to photo this guy since he's constantly pacing and begging for food

Looking good! The belly is starting to color up nicely. Believe it or not but the appetite will taper a bit when they hit adulthood. Don't get me wrong they still pack it way but just at a more reasonable rate. Mine has just recently decided to 'sample' frozen krill and tilapia and will eat a piece or two. It does not like it much but it's stomach gets the best of her. She will not turn down any pellet and would probably get fat on massivore if I let her.

I had very few issues with my jack dempsey and my sens. Dempsey got scratched up pretty bad with some tail swipes a few times. Dempseys are tanks though so just kept the water clean and he healed well.
At one point he would protect my albino sen from the others (they were aggressive when first added.

Be carefull suggesting fish to polyaddict guys he will end up needing 4 more tanks a week if he gets into cichlids, considering the rate he buys polys.

Lolz, ive been looking at clown loaches too, but i cant really decide, number one one the list right now is pearsei, just need to find a good size.

Just be carefull cichlid aggression is a lot more of a pain in the arse than polys. you will end up needing new tanks to seperate fish. lol

Thats the thing im worried about, i used to have a green terror and it terrorized my whole tank, same thing when i bought a flower horn, one of my friend's Nigerian lap got beat up by a jack dempsey before he gave it to me. But sad thing i only had the lap for a week before it died.

Suggest looking for known mellow cichlid. Pearsei, bocourti, chocolate, synspillum, and theres a few more too.

Otherwise, consider fancy elongated barbs that don't get huge and characins. Most will schoal together to cover the mid level areas.

The specific reasoning i chose apollo sharks and pink chalceusis that they dont ever swim or sleep on the bottom. They're always up the water. Even when the lights are off.
