Basically this is simple...

If you are breeding almost any species fish, when they are about to breed, breeding, and tending to the brood....THE FISH WILL BE AGGRESSIVE to WHOEVER POSES a THREAT to THEM AND THEIR BABIES. (Not alwayyyyys true tho)

Fish get pretty aggressive when they breed, and usually you realize it when its too late and you either have a beat up fish, or a dead one.

Festae Grow kinda slow tho i think, but can get around 10".(Male)

MY convicts are VERY VERY aggressive when they breed, my 2 inch female beats up a 6.5" Male JD and his partner.
festae get around 16" why not try a pair of nics with a pair of cons for variety or maybe a pair of neets but they are insane

OK then, then I guess I could go with a pair of any larger cichlid (with exception of a few like doviis..):D

thx for the answear:)

Nics sounds a bit more... sane?:P I guess I will have to consider my options..., but doing some quick research made me see some sites saying that festae can grow to 20"(!). Even though that aint gonna happen, I think 16 is still to much for my tank.

I guess Nics would be a fair option... Only thing I dont like about nics are that they are... ehm... unimpressive. I kept a pair earlier as "sidekicks" to a trimac pair (in a large tank).. Anyone got any thoughts on A. lyonsi or P. friedrichstahlii?

wow sorry i didnt know festae got up to 16"+.

I tried...

Good luck in whatever you choose.

grammodes would be cool they grow pretty slow but look fantastic and are mean as hell they reach around a foot

If your looking for less aggressive I would go Severums, Chocolates, Nics, etc. Then you could also have a few smaller cichlids in there like Cons and FM's.

Why not try a mating pair of Oscars.

I know they are common but god what a funny fish to watch. I love mine and wish I had two but only have a 90.

If I had 130 I'd have a maiting pair of O's and a shoal of clown loaches with maybe some silver dollars.

A 130 gallon tank with that stocking of big fish would only be regular to us weirdos on this site. :)

thx for the anwears.

I don't think im gonna go for oscars, they seem to be kinda hard to breed and also probably require lower pH (for breeding atleast). I'm probably gonna go with nics, HRPs and firemouths.

But damn, looking at these forums really makes me wanna get trimacs or red devils again... damn you evil MFK:P

Nobody's mentione GT's (Gold Saum version)

They have great color and would be ok with cons

Clown loaches sound great too. they're beautiful fish

Good luck with the tank! :headbang2

Male Festae can get 16 inches, but it takes 3-5 years. Females rarely get bigger than 11-12 inches. A female festae is always a good choice.
