Cichlids getting sick and dying daily, need help to cure the problem.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'd add some Prime to bid up that ammonia. If you keep getting rid of it, the tank can't cycle.

What are you feeding them ?? food type and is it flake or pellet ifs its pellets what size and how much.
Dont use salt as of yet that can cause problems with bloat as well, are they pooping and if you have seen it is it long and stringy. What temp do you keep the water and whats the ph and gh/kh.

Its a 55 gallon tank. Had it running for 2 years and 5 months ago swapped the fish for the ones I currently own.

Feeding them strictly, HBH Natural 8 Veggie Flake. I feed them one small pinch that they finish in less than 1 minute.

I did have my water temp drop to the 60's for a couple of weeks when my heater wouldn't work. Now its back to the regular temps of high 70's.

They eat and poop like normal. Solid, short, and dark.

Ph - I believe is 7.2, straight from the tap. I don't bother messing with, I rather have consistent PH than have to worry about it changing with each water change.

Im thinking the drop to 60 for a couple weeks has weakened them. try dosing the tank.

The tank is cycled Unless youre saying it needs to cycle again after water changes???

If you have ammonia, then the tank probably isn't cycled.

My tests could be wrong for all I know. It always shows nitrite as 0.

I have done a 50-60% water change today. also added 3 more aquaclear 70 sponges to my filter, since it has the room. Started treating with PimaFix today.

One fish today has started spinning around while swimming.

Will be doing another water test in a couple of hours. Giving the tank time to move around the newly added water.

Test results after todays water change.

Ammonia - 0.25

Nitrate - I believe somewhere between 0 and 5. Api tests 0 is yellow and 5 is an orange. My test was showing a yellow green. I am assuming that means its an in between the two.

Nitrite - Like always showing up as 0

This is the second day with PimaFix.

A second fish has started to swim upside down, both have yellow hue on the under belly, and their stomach is concave. Any advice on what I should do to help hem and the rest?

Note - its only my p. acei none of the yellow labs are sick.
